SUMMER COURSE ON INTRODUCTORY OBSERVATIONAL & THEORETICAL ASTRONOMY (SUMCIOTA) 2016

SOME IMPORTANT RULES AND REGULATIONS
  1. Applicants are requested to fill the Application Form in BLOCK LETTERS. Incomplete Forms will be rejected.
  2. Application Forms must accompany the full payment. No Application Form is entertained without the full payment.
  3. Acceptance of Application Form generally ensures participation but if at any stage, it is found that the information given in the Application Form is incorrect, the candidature of the participant is liable to be cancelled with Course Fee retained.
  4. 75% attendance is a must to qualify in the course.
  5. All participants must go through an examination/evaluation procedure to qualify for the course/certificate subject to the POINT 4 above. For details of evaluation procedure, see below.
  6. Participants should restrain utmost caution while handling sophisticated equipments. In case of damage, he/she will be liable to pay the compensation as decided by the Kolkata Astronomy Centre.
  7. Participants should come to the class within 4.55pm sharp and have to attend the full class upto 8pm.
  8. Discipline, obedience and punctuality are to be observed strictly.
  9. For misbehavior and non-adherence to rules and regulations, authority of Kolkata Astronomy Centre is at liberty to expel any participant without showing any reason and with course fee retained.
  10. Course fee, once deposited, will not be refunded under any circumstances.

MODE OF PAYMENT
Payable in cash only. Course fee should be deposited in full and no part payment/ installment system is allowed. No Application Form is entertained without the full payment.

EVALUATION PROCEDURE
Every candidate must go through evaluation procedure to obtain grade certificate and evaluation report card. Evaluation process starts at the very onset with the first class. The evaluation is carried out of 100 points and is categorized as follows:
Attendance : Every attendance will carry 1 point totaling 13 points for 13 days.
Project : Every participant must do a project on a prescribed topic which will carry a maximum of 35 points.
Good Conduct : 2 points for good conduct.
Examination : A multiple choice type examination will be held at the end of the course out of 50 points. Each correct answer will fetch 1 point and each wrong answer will fetch 0 point.
TOTAL : Attendance (13 points) + Project (35 points) + Good Conduct (2 points) + Examination (50 points) = 100 points.

GRADUATION CEREMONY & CERTIFICATE DISTRIBUTION
Based on evaluation procedure, every participant is awarded GRADE CERTIFICATE and EVALUATION REPORT CARD through a Graduation Ceremony held after the completion of the course. Generally a noted scientist on the related field awards the certificates through a public program held on the issue.
